Calling & Acceptable Use Guidelines
Last updated: 6 September 2026
These guidelines apply to organizations, their users and authorized resellers using the calling service. They explain operating responsibilities; enabling a feature does not certify that a campaign complies with telecom, privacy or sector rules.
1. Before uploading contacts
- Use contacts collected for an appropriate, disclosed purpose. A purchased list, public number, previous enquiry or existing customer relationship does not automatically authorize every promotional campaign.
- Keep evidence of the source, purpose, notice shown, permission or other applicable basis, collection time, scope and withdrawal history. Be able to provide evidence for a disputed call through a secure channel.
- Minimize uploaded information. Do not request passwords, OTPs, payment PINs or unnecessary sensitive records. Confirm additional requirements for health, lending, employment and children’s information before use.
2. Telecom onboarding and campaign classification
Before a commercial campaign in India, confirm its category, recipient preferences, any required consent and registration, authorized calling identity, number series and permitted delivery conditions with your telecom provider. Promotional and service/transactional communications can have different requirements. Do not reclassify promotions as service calls or bypass provider controls using ordinary numbers.
Tell the originating provider when you intend to use auto-dialers or robocalls and complete applicable approvals. TRAI requirements and implementation arrangements can change; the provider must confirm what applies to your traffic. Do not treat a successful API request as regulatory approval.
3. What recipients should hear
- Identify the calling business and purpose clearly. Disclose automated or AI interaction and provide a way to request human help where appropriate; do not impersonate a real person or authority.
- Give any required recording notice before recording and obtain permission where required. Configure prompts and recording use accordingly; this document does not add an automatic disclosure to existing agents.
- Make opt-out instructions clear and honor the request. Configure an appropriate keypad option when using a keypad flow, or maintain an effective alternative such as a support contact and campaign exclusion process.
4. Opt-outs, retries and complaints
Honor withdrawal and do-not-contact requests promptly across the affected business’s campaigns and imports. Keep suppression evidence, avoid re-importing opted-out recipients and respect snooze periods. The platform’s stored suppression is workspace-scoped; a reseller operating multiple workspaces must coordinate the applicable request across them.
An unavailable suppression lookup must not authorize a new dial. Technical suppression is an additional safeguard, not a substitute for lawful contact selection. Do not repeatedly call a person who declines, evade restrictions with another workspace, or exploit retries to harass.
For a complaint, pause the disputed outreach while investigating, preserve the necessary consent and call evidence, and cooperate with your seller and telecom provider. Report abusive calls using the contact process below, with the calling business, number, date and nature of the complaint.
5. Prohibited use and enforcement
Do not use the service for fraud, threats, harassment, unlawful discrimination, spam, misleading offers, impersonation, privacy violations, security attacks or infringement. Do not conceal the originating identity or bypass account, rate or compliance restrictions. Resellers must convey these requirements to their customers.
We may request evidence, restrict a campaign or suspend access for misuse as permitted by the service agreement. Compliance obligations apply to each campaign even if previous campaigns were accepted.
